No. 3 seed Denver (25-12-4) plays No. 4 seed University of North Dakota (24-12-3) in the finals of the 2012 Red Baron WCHA Final Five on Saturday, March 17. Puck drop is set for 6:07 p.m. MT at the Xcel Energy Center (18,064). The game will be televised live on ROOT SPORTS, FS North and FCS Central, and broadcast live on Denver's Sports Station 102.3 ESPN. Blog and audiocast are available on www.DenverPioneers.com, while live stats are available on www.WCHA.com.

And a green wave descends on the Xcel as the entire state of North Dakota gets on their tractors and putt-putts over to St Paul. Normally staid FFA-types in neon green fright wigs and lime-green Mardi Gras beads, Rosie O'Donnell look-alikes in 4XXL outlaw Sioux jerseys, all fueled by St Patty's green beer on 7th St....... the horror, the horror.

All-WCHA Rookie Team goaltender Juho Olkinuora (9-7-3, 2.07 GAA, .928 Sv%) will start in net for for Denver. Olkinuora is 1-1-0 with a 1.49 goals against average and .949 save percentage in the postseason. Olkinuora is 1-0-0 with 3.00 goals against average and .900 save percentage in one game against the Fighting Sioux.

Since it's that time of year, I took my trusty 'Magic 8 Ball' out of storage, applied a liberal coat of Windex to it and posed the question "which team will Denver play in the upcoming NCAA tourney?" The response I received was "Reply hazy. Try again later." Okay never mind what the PairWise predictor says, what's anyone's/everyone's guess as to which team Denver will play in the opening round of the NCAA event?

A win could possibly earn a #1 seed. Hard to believe considering just a few days ago we we were a bubble team.
Just as long as we don't get put in a BC-BU regional.
Could you imagine a Maine match up? Please, NO 6 on 3!
