UMass Lowell @ Maine 10/8

Re: UMass Lowell @ Maine 10/8

On my way to Orono in 10 minutes. Hopefully the drive is worth it. Go Lowell!

Ouch.. well look at the bright side.. foliage is peaking up there this wknd, so least you'll enjoy the ride back (i sincerely mean this). You're not driving back tonight, right?..

What a **** poor game by Lowell!!! i can't believe how bad the defense was in this game!!!! They need to do a lot of work or it will be a long season. Blaise just said, "Edwards played a good game is he serious"!!!!

just cue up the 80s rock, roll down the windows, and scream on down the highway (still not sure how the team bus beat us home in 2001... we were doing 100 down the road.)

Seriously though, getting back into Lowell around 2AM isn't awful.

Re: UMass Lowell @ Maine 10/8

Lowells first goalie was awful, Boulanger? was much better but he was shaky also. Lowells PP really moved the puck around well, nice passing, couldn't finish. Arnold looked good on the PP but didn't notice him 5 on 5.

As far as Maine goes, they look like what we thought they'd look like. Good offense, the D looks awful. BC would have torched the Bears in the first. Not sure if Sirman was good or lucky in the 1st. He made some decent saves but I'm not convinced. Joey Diamond is the real deal. He is one tough sob. Surprised Corkum wasn't out there, Amestoy can change directions and be going full speed in a few steps, the kid can scoot.

Corkum never suited up. I missed the pre-game on radio. Was he injured? Maine played with intensity the entire game. Never backed off and kept the "pedal to the metal". I see this as a very good sign.

Corkum was a coaches decision as far as I know

arnold had an assist on the first uml goal (pp), three shots on goal and two minutes for boarding. agreed though, despite the assist, i only remember his penalty. beyond that, not much else

The D got better as the game went on though. Diamond is the type of player that we have hated at BC.........love him! :D Sirman was adequate and played with more confidence than I expected. Best Maine offense since the Walsh years.......hands down. This team is gonna be in the national mix......me likey! :D :D :D

Re: UMass Lowell @ Maine 10/8

Edwards did play well
Arnold was fantastic quarterbacking the pp
Great hands,
5 on 5 was invisible except I shot, skating thru the lane

And give maine credit, they crashed the net and hustled every moment of every shift...Lowell wasn't bad. Maine was good
Well and hutton and Hamilton are probably missed more than expected.
FINALLY maine's D is taking penalties rather than giving up easy scoring opportunities

No, no I think every single Lowell fan knew exactly how much we'd be missing Hutton and Hamilton. And Dehner. Schaus. Barry Goers. Kory Fal...well, you get the point.

Lowell fans: hey, at least we didn't take the worst beating of the night, thank-you-very-much Union for dropping 9 on Sacred Heart.

Of course we drove back. I'm not spending any more time up there than I had to! We did swing by Dysart's for some poutin and bacon burgers first. Got back to Chelmsford around 2:30ish..

Obviously I'd be lying if I said I thought Lowell was going to win that game. I knew the odds were well in favor of Maine but that was much worse than I was expecting. Not many positives to take from that.. Carr looked really lost, too many rebounds and Boulanger wasn't able to stop much of the bleeding. They'll get better though, give it time. Hopefully they'll be able to quickly move on from this, get things together and at least split next weekend.
