I am really, really sorry to hear that. I hope that somehow, soon, they will see reason and bring the program back.

That SUCKS. Cool program that deserved to be saved. I'll try to catch the Chargers at Alfond later this year (saw them there a couple of years ago), but this is really disappointing...

Portera is believed to be making the move solely based upon financial numbers, but SaveUAHHockey.com has learned that solutions to those concerns were brought before Portera and dismissed.

Then the kicker is that the new guy takes over next week after the UA guy heads back for Tuscaloosa. How is that legal?? I say the UAH fan go for the freakin Hail Mary here. Get the new guy to say that they'll keep the program around if say X amount of dollars are raised to help fund the program, and perhaps say a conference promises them a home in 2013 when the shuffle happens. That or somebody like the Big Ten promises them 10 home games a year perhaps.

At least announcing it now rather than the end of the season allows the players more time to consider their future............

Hopefully UAH will honor scholarships for those who stay and complete their programs.

He's also from the UofA at Tuscaloosa, where they've already done similar things in the past, like reject UAB's effort to pay a head coach about half of what Alabama's coordinator's make after the contract had been agreed to.

They probably think they can funnel the money the hockey team costs back to Tuscaloosa and buy a few extra recruits and a special teams' coach with it.

Very sad day - a lot of work by a lot of people to save something useful, ruined by one person. :mad::mad::mad:
