Top Chef season 9, Texas.

Long way to go until the Top Chef season opener.

But I'd thought I'd post something a little early, since we happened to meet one of the chef's last week, Molly Brandt is THE chef for the best restaurant on the Allure of the Seas. Yea, that's a cruise ship.

She's the chef at one of the featured restaurants called 150 Grill, and Mrs alfa and I celebrated our anniversary there on Friday. She's good. Really good.

I know the show is over and all, but I sure hope the curse of Alfablue does not raise it's ugly head again.

(we also did a chef's table dinner last week, too- with all of 10 other people sharing the experience- RCCL is doing a heck of a job with food)

So, Nov 2 appears to be the debut of the new season.

Thanks for the heads up. On a related note, another installment of the "Next Iron Chef" is coming up. Usually I do not watch that because Food Network has so denegrated the title of Iron Chef with another crowned every year, but this line-up looks very interesting. Most of them have Food Network affiliations, so it's basically a hoped up version of Chopped, which I do love.

Thanks for the heads up. We no longer have cable; I'm trying to decide if it's worth tracking a site to watch this online. I was pretty disappointing in Season 7 and, while I loved the cast, I wasn't always that impressed with the challenges for Season 8.

I totally agree on the Next Iron Chef being a denegration of the title of Iron Chef (the reason they had the first competition made sense...with the departure of Mario, they needed someone else...). We sort of tuned in for the last round, but I'm not sure I'll go the extra mile without cable. I do miss watching Chopped. Not only do I really like Ted Allen, Marc Murphy, Geoffrey, Aaron, and Amanda, but I really like the format.

Moderately related notes: Are there ever going to be DVD releases of the first few seasons of Top Chef?

Chopped is a quality show, focused 95% on cooking. The judges don't tolerate a whole lot of drama, they'll call a duck a duck. Tomorrow is the winners tournament final. I totally admire your dropping cable, there's so little to watch that I'm interested in, if it wasn't for cooking, racing and college sports.

Perhaps the winner of Next Iron Chef should have Iron Chef Apprentice status until some degree of "awesomeness" is attained.
