Which of the league's star players would you pick to build a team around?

NOTE: Please vote for one of the 15 named players, and then if you actually prefer an "other" selection, vote for that as well. This is why I allowed for users to vote multiple times. Thank you ...

I went with Greening, but there are a bunch of good choices. Watch somebody's head a'splode if anybody picks Brendon Nash. Not that I have a particular poster in mind...

Re: This Week in ECAC Hockey Poll: Franchise Players

R Nash is the better of the Nash brothers for sure. Greening seems to be good off ice as well, a leader in the locker room which makes him my choice.

Re: This Week in ECAC Hockey Poll: Franchise Players

other: Pirri or York(isn't every great team in college or NHL built around a great goaltender?)
Not to say York is the best goalie in the ECAC(though he could be), but he certainly has his fair share of spectacular saves

SCONF clearly doesn't pay any mind to directions ...

Polacek has been great this season, but I think I would still go with Pirri. That kid has been nothing but energetic, enthusiastic, and deadly.

I don't think anyone's seen enough of Pirri - or any other frosh, for that matter - to consider them stars just yet. Not that they won't be ...

I agree with that. Pirri has the most potental of any RPI player at least since Joe Juneau. Don't get me wrong, Polacek is an excellent player, as is Helfrich when he is healthy, but their success this year is due to a large degree to the fact that the opponents have to put their checking line against Pirri and his linemates.

York isn't a bad choice either.

oops. :o Add a vote for Chase Polacek.

Re: This Week in ECAC Hockey Poll: Franchise Players

Hard for me to pick any one player. Cornell teams are just that, teams, so building around an individual isn't really the way it's done. The exception might be building around the goalie, but I'm just not a Scrivens fan.

I might have said Kalemba, but he's not having that great a year, either.

Give me Eric Lampe's heart on 25 average players, I'll show you a conference champion.

On the RPI squad, this guy is already a star. Even if he doesn't improve (nigh impossible), he will still be a consistently dangerous threat. Not to take anything away from Polacek, they are both phenomenal players, but Pirri is more exciting to watch.
