The polls this year are following a strange pattern not seen before

With so few games played, 5 of the top 7 teams have lost to teams not in the top 25. The polls seem to ignore this fact. Of the other 5 top 10 teams, Michigan has yet to lose, 3 others have only lost to top 10 teams and North Dakota has only lost to #12 Minnesota. Losing to inferior teams used to carry more weight but the new trend appears to be to ignore a bad loss. This is not just in hockey either.

The pattern is much more pronounced than in previous years. At present only 6 of the top 20 in the poll have not lost to a team not in the top 20. It seems wins over top 20 teams have far more weight than losses to bottom tier teams now. Of those 6 only 3 have not lost to a team out of the top 10. Wisconsin's only loss is to #2 Michigan; Michigan's worst is to #9 WMU and Dartmouth is unbeaten at 4-0. The other 3 are BC with a worst loss to #11 Northeastern, BU with a worst loss to #14 Connecticut and Cornell with a worst loss to #19 Dartmouth.
