The Official Thread of all things Fishing

I tried searching for the old "Fishin'" thread but couldnt find it (and yes I tried the search function...nothing). So time to start a new one.

With the winter around the corner my itch to ice fish has surfaced. Unfortunately, living in southern Illinois I won't see much ice around here (did get like 10 days of fishable ice last year and hammered crappies and catfish). So instead of hardcore fishing during the cold months (I still fish a bit) I do lots of fly tying. Just picked up a tool for tying tube flies and started doing that. Its kind of neat.

Anyone else tie flies? Perhaps we could look into doing a fly swap if people would be interested. Ive never done one before but have wanted to.

Re: The Official Thread of all things Fishing

I'm on my annual Lake of the Woods fishing trip...today was day one. Overall a great day, beautiful weather, and success on a tough day to fish.

Overall, my dad and I had 2 follows, 3 strikes, and managed to catch 1 pike and 4 muskies: 32" 46" 25" and 39" for the 4 muskies. Considering the lack of activity, 4 boated muskies is quite a haul!

If my dad and I can continue to get 3+ a day, we'll be doing great.

Well Salmon season is in full swing here.... Spent 3 nights chasing them this past weekend... Took 3 hens and one male... Got about 15 lbs of fillets in the freezer and about 4 lb. of skein curing/drying as we speak... Now just got to schedule a spawn-sack tie-a-thon and I'll be all set for November Browns and Steelies :D
