he's been working on knitting a sweater vest and some cool tinted recs specs for his old long time mentor (it takes years to find that much material for a vest that big)! also working on that sick GD live show collection!

Re: The Official Neumann Post-Season Thread

Yeah well they are playing Bowdoin...and they are in the NESCAC.

you don't say:rolleyes:... Capt. O cited Neumann's historical record against nescac teams and included babson in those stats. i merely let him know that babson wasn't in the nescac, to which he updated his post... wasn't trying to be an ***, simply helping provide accurate info...

but since you mentioned it, fwiw, tuft's is in nescac and neumann's not playing them either...

Re: The Official Neumann Post-Season Thread

heard your not that slim now a days you would think all that coaching you are doing you would be losing weight........your starting to look like a counterpart from a team up north (B.B)

Re: The Official Neumann Post-Season Thread

After watching the Bowdoin/Neumann game last night, I have to say that Neumann should be disgraced with the way that they played (or at the very least they should be disgraced at how a few of their players decided to play). It's almost as if Neumann scouted Bowdoin's top players and then decided to try and take them out of the game...literally (I'm not saying this was their actual game plan, but it sure seemed that way). First, Garrioch delivers a blatant hit to the head to Downey from Bowdoin--5 minute major and a game misconduct. Next, another Neumann kid (Sather) takes out Matheson from behind from way after after the puck passes both players--another 5 minute major and a game misconduct. Then, in the third period, Weiniger gets the puck along the boards in the defensive zone and the Neumann defenseman pinches down...Weiniger has his back to the play, but the Neumann player barrels in without hesitation, and buries him face first into the boards. Weiniger was thankfully ok, and the kid only gets a cross-checking penalty. Now I may be reading way too far into things, but those three guys represent 3 out of Bowdoin's top 5 scorers, and all were targeted illegally. Now I'm all for physical play, and to be quite honest, Neumann was a bigger team, and physically intimidating Bowdoin should've been a part of their game plan. The problem is how cheap and dirty many of the hits were...and I think those who were at the game would agree. Neumann had plenty of solid, clean hits, and to those players who did so, right on...but the way that a few players acted on the ice, whether it be ordered by the coach or not is an absolute disgrace. I know that Neumann has a lot of guys who played juniors, but that's not an excuse for dirty physical play--Oswego had a ton of enormous former junior kids last year who shut down Bowdoin in the NCAAs with solid, clean, physical play. I'm sure all Neumann fans will rip my head off for saying all of this, and granted it was only one game our of many for their season--but the way that the Neumann team carried themselves last night is an absolute disgrace to the players, parents, fans, and the game of hockey.

That's their style, not quite that bad last weekend but once they got down a goal or two the cheap shots got more frequent. I think they want to take over Manhattanville's reputation.

Re: The Official Neumann Post-Season Thread

not gonna cover the major penalties/hits......what I did notice was that many times the Neumann players went out of their way to make a hit and took themselves out of the play, THIS and the cheapshots is what cost them.............not to mention Messina was Broduerlike btwn the pipes

Re: The Official Neumann Post-Season Thread

Neumann's cheap shots against several of Bowdoin's top players were pretty disgusting - that's a "style" of play we can do without.

Re: The Official Neumann Post-Season Thread

I saw the game, and I agree it was physical. To suggest they were head hunting during an NCAA game is ridiculous. Neumann does not have a large reputation of being dirty, but are a physical team. I watched the majority of their games this year, and the game verse Bowdoin was less physical than any other ECAC West game during the regular season. They have not taken a series of 5 minute majors this season, with only one other heading into this game.

Congrats to Bowdoin. Best of luck in Oswego.

Why is it ridiculous to assume they were head hunting? Being physical is one thing...hitting a guy in the head while he's in a vulnerable position (such as from behind into the boards) is another. I'm not suggesting that this is Nuemann's typical style of play, but for someone who has only seen them play once, it sure seemed like they lost a lot of composure and played pretty dirty--which most likely cost them the game. The two ejections plus the cheapshot on Weiniger accounted for over half a period of powerplay time--Bowdoin didn't score on any of the powerplays, but Neumann seemed to be controlling the play even strength during the last portion of the game, and certainly in the third period, so going on PK didn't help their case. Regardless of whether the Neumann kids meant to play that way or not, it is absoutely unacceptable.

Not that the Bowdoin/Neumann hits can compare to the severity and situation of the recent Chara hit, but Chara (most likely) didn't "mean" to break Pacioretty's neck, and probably just wanted to give him a good licking--regardless, the hit should still be suspendable (in my opinion). Watching those kind of hits, whether careless or malicious, makes me worried about the future of hockey at both the collegiate and professional levels.

On a side note, here's an interesting article regarding the Chara hit...it's great to see other players stand up against their own:
