I always thought the pieces were in some way related to sectors of the economy. Top hat -- banking, iron -- textiles, etc.

My suggestion for pieces in 1930 and now:

1930
top hat -- banking
iron -- textiles
car -- auto
derrick -- oil
wheelbarrow -- construction
plow -- agriculture

2017
cash register -- retail
beaker -- science
stethoscope -- medicine
laptop -- computers
windmill - renewables
trophy wife -- finance

I'm surprised that they don't have more special edition Monopoly versions.

The international travel version might have Eiffel Tower, Taj Mahal, Great Pyramid, Washington Monument, Christ the Redeemer statue, and a Terra Cotta Warrior as game pieces.

? I thought there were trillions of them.

But I'm not sure if they have themed pieces. The Cornell version would have to include a hockey player. And a suicide.
