The List for Week of December 28, 2009

ajoyce02

Cake or Death?
Last edition of The List for 2009.

Sickness over the weekend, List. Having that sickness occur at the Wild game and in the parking ramp for all to see, Listed big time.

A good long weekend with family, Anti-List.

A Packer playoff berth, Anti-List. Never thought I'd type that after that loss to Tampa.

Another short work week this week, Anti-List.

Hope you all had a good Christmas and best wishes in 2010.

Learning that one of my coworkers died last night is on The List. RIP Star... you'll be missed. :(

List
The loss (though I firmly believe this team is going to win gold)
The insane cold - felt like I burned my finger when I touched the seatbelt clasp post-game and I can still feel that spot. This morning the rear view mirror was frosted over and I slid about 8 ft into an intersection despite starting to brake (from a very slow speed) halfway down the block. Tomorrow is supposed to be worse.
The housekeeper at the lodge I'm staying at is a complete sweetheart - her husband had a couple of strokes earlier today and we (semi-perm lodger and I) thought he had probably died when the hospital called her to go back, but wouldn't tell her his condition. He's still hanging on, but is in very bad shape. They have 2 daughters and no family in Canada (British). Just feel so bad for her.
The loss (yes, this sounds shallow after the above).

Anti-List
USA is going to medal
Some very nice Canadian fans - haven't met many of those outside of player families in past years so this has been nice.
Not hitting a car or being hit when the brakes didn't stop the car.
Becoming so conditioned to insane temperatures that I may wear shorts to Fenway.
Sweden coming to town tomorrow
The other Regina teams coming to town. 3 games a day won't be fun, but it is nice that I won't completely miss any teams (not fond of the icy roads so decided against trying to go there for a game which would have been necessary in past years).

Don't place your tires over the two shiny strips of pavement while going down the road. Those would be ice. It's slick.

The GLI:

The Michigan Tech Huskies (staff and players), go on The List. No explanation needed, I should think.

Stupid, bandwagon Sparty "fans" go on The List. 'Diva was right - the "Scoreboard" chant when it's 1-0, five minutes into the 1st? Really? Did your mom get you that MSU t-shirt from Wal-Mart this morning? If I asked you to describe an icing call, would you try to tell me that it's the stuff that goes on top of a cake?

Sparty himself goes on The Anti-List for embracing the "hate" much better than some of the State fans have in my four appearances in the GLI.

Tech fans and RPI fans go on The Anti-List. Thank you for keeping me sane and reasonably happy on that first day, in spite of the final score of the 4 o'clock game.

Beer, you go on The Anti List for always being refreshing, even though the JLA charges $8.75 for 20 oz. of you (and in hindsight, that's probably a good thing).
