Re: The List for Week of April 19, 2010

I posted this last week:

Phone call from my mom last night. CT scan showed a growth on my dad's brain. Listed. He had a brain tumor about 12 years ago and numerous compliactions after that (fluid buildup causing swelling). That part is in the past but he hasnt been the same since. This growth is in the same area as the tumor was. Won't know more until after the visit to the neurosurgeon on Monday next week. Oh and mom has to have a thyroid removed on the 23rd... also Listed. Apparently her thyroids have been wreaking havoc by removing calcium from her bones causing osteoperosis.

And wanted to give an update. Dad visited a neurosurgeon today and ran some tests. Things continue to be inconclusive though so far he is saying its probably not cancer since its been more than 10 years since the tumor. My dads last CT scan that we can remember was 2007 and it showed no growth then so its something that has occured probably relatively recently. Doctor wanted to get an MRI but as my dad is EXTREMELY claustriphobic they had to schedule it for next week on wednesday so that he can be sedated for the ordeal. Hopefully we will finally know what we are dealing with at that point. The whole situation continues to be Listed. Mom's surgery is still Friday but it is considered an "easy" surgery. She will only be in the hospital one night and should be up and around again relatively quickly. That situation is also still listed though.

But all wasnt bad last week. On Friday I found out my paper for the National American Fisheries Society conference in Pittsburgh in Sepetember has been selected to be presented during the Best Student Presentation Symposium. So that is kind of cool and a big deal for me so it is Anti-listed
