Syracuse's only head coach in their 14-year history has retired. Paul Flanagan has retired with a 434-308-73 record. Flanagan has two CHA conference championship wins with the Orange.
Prior to his long tenure in Syracuse, Flanagan was the head coach at St. Lawrence where he coached the Saints to six NCAA tournament berths which saw four Frozen Four appearances including a championship game appearance against UMD despite never winning a conference championship tournament with that program.
Brendon Knight, the associate head coach of the Orange who has been with the program for 10 years, has been named Interim Head Coach. I'm not sure if Syracuse will look seriously beyond Knight, especially given Flanagan publicly crediting Knight with the program's recent success (2 CHA championships in 4 seasons).
Any thoughts of outside candidates if they don't go with Knight?
