It is very disappointing to see that AIC's last home game will not even be at home. They will be hosting RIT in a first round AHA game at Army West Point's Tate arena about 2 1/2 hours away. Perhaps that underscores part of the reason for the programs' demise. They played games in Springfield at the Mass Mutual Center an AHL rink but did not need that large capacity rink. Disney is there this weekend so that option was not available. I am surprised that a more local option was not found though such as UMass or Holy Cross or even a local prep school rink. Having an on-campus rink or as a primary tenant in a local arena may be a necessity to keeping teams afloat.

I fear AIC will not be the last.Without huge donations from alum to prop up the small programs I don`t see how they can justify the money loss to be cannon fodder for the big boys.

AIC still in business for at least 2 more games as they beat RIT in OT. They will know tonight whether they travel to Holy Cross, Sacred Heart or Bentley for a best of 3 AHA quarterfinal series.
