SNC Off Season Thread

Re: SNC Off Season Thread

Congrats to ATC Russ Schmelzer on 30 years at SNC! He is one of the best around and has been of the huge part of the hockey program for many of those 30 years.

Heard today, that SNC All-American Nick Tabisz, who scored the game winning goal in the 2011 National Championship game for the Green Knights, is participating in the Washington Capitals rookie camp.
Not known yet where Nick will be playing this season.

They had a rookie game tonight against the Flyers - http://dumpnchase.com/?p=930 Looks like he did not figure in the scoring. It was streamed live on the Flyers web page -- http://flyers.nhl.com/#. I don't know if they will have a replay.

Re: SNC Off Season Thread

I think he was only up at the caps Rookie camp I am sure he didn`t expect to amke the squad, being released just means he returns to the ECHL South Carolina Stingrays I`m sure, the team he played a weekend series with after nationals last season. He has not even been to there camp yet, they hold his contract.

Return to South Carolina it is, for Nick.

Re: SNC Off Season Thread

Looking forward to a great weekend honoring Roby Gropp and Tom Maryschack. Both integral parts of the foundation for the success for SNC today. Gropper was an exciting (for the fans, not always the coach) tender that became a force in the NCHA and was the second in the long line of outstanding Green Knight goalies. Schack arrived as a centre and was switched to defense. He really led the way to the offensive defenseman that has been a huge part of the success of the power play year after year. The second and third hockey players to be inducted in the SNC Hall of Fame. When it is all said and done the hockey team may need their own wing! Congrats to Coach Coghlin and all of the players and coaches that were of part of Roby and Tom's careers at SNC.

Re: SNC Off Season Thread

Just checked out the Charleston Stingrays roster and am excited to watch Nick Tabisz this season...

Re: SNC Off Season Thread

The season is getting close. Should have some great competition in NCHA. Hopefully, this year, all our fans can enjoy the competition and remember this is a game. From time to time we see younger adults and students acting immature and unrully during a highly charged hockey game - unfortunate but somewhat understandable. More disturbing is seeing older 'adults' out of control. I was appauled last year when I talked to a parent of a SP player who saw a SNC adult fan spit on his son while he left the rink. Regardless of what happens on the rink, this should never happen. This doesn't reflect well on the many awesome and respectful fans. It sure leaves a sour taste. Good time to remind ourselves to live the excitement with respect.
