Shark Week 2013: "documentaries"

Jon

Say, this is nice.
By which I mean the fake one about Megaladon last night. Good times. I wonder if Roboshark will get trotted out or if we'll be subjected to another 10 rounds of "I survived a shark attack!!!!1!11!!!"

Re: Shark Week 2013: "documentaries"

It's funny to see the reaction to last night's "Documentary"... But then again, I totally understand why people are outraged by it...

Re: Shark Week 2013: "documentaries"

What, you mean there aren't 60 foot sharks prowling our oceans!?!

Nessie is shocked, SHOCKED I say!

I didn't see the end of it, do they actually "find" the Megalodon?

I frankly had no idea it was fake, though some of the "evidence" did look a little 'shopped. I don't understand why they had to make a fake documentary, when there's plenty of people like those MonsterQuest guys who would've been up for it. Until the next day when I looked it up I just figured it was just something like MonsterQuest.

Do we get the Happy Days rerun where The Fonz jumps a shark?

That would be less silly than the fake Megaladon documentary and the Cajun redneck/shark mashup from last night.

Do we get the full story of Snuffy the Seal this week??

Re: Shark Week 2013: "documentaries"

Maybe they'll play the MST3K episode "Devil Fish." Or possibly "Mummy Shark."

I also took the thing hook, line, and sinker for about the first hour of the show... Then things like the timetable they used, the photo of the half whale, and some other things started to make me wonder... Here's a good blog that sums up some thoughts on the matter: LINKY

Also, I totally believe in "mysteries of the deep" so to speak.... I view something like this as plausible... That's the main reason I gave Discovery the benefit of the doubt here...

Re: Shark Week 2013: "documentaries"

The Discovery Channel reached another new low last night during the "Shark After Dark" by having that noted scientific expert Tara Reid give a dissertation on whale sharks.

Re: Shark Week 2013: "documentaries"

Meh.

I stopped watching shark week many years ago when it was apparent that they had run out of things to talk about. Seems they are really reaching these days.

I will say though that it used to be pretty cool. The first time I saw the whites breaching was outstanding - not to mention awe inspiring and a little disturbing/terrifying.

They really could get by showing a bunch of Air Jaws documentaries. It would be much better than the dreck they are airing this week.

Here's a clip of Tara on the show. Feel your brain cells running away as the video rolls...

Re: Shark Week 2013: "documentaries"

Not feeling they've quite reached bottom yet, Discovery will have Tom Green on 'Shark After Dark' tonight.

You've been warned.

Wow. That's... stunning. Sharks are animals, however. She is right about that. Just in case someone thought they were a type of granite.
