D2D

Minnesota Golden Gopher Hockey
Finals
Providence 7, RIT 0
Minnesota 3, Bemidji State 1

End of two periods
St. Lawrence 2, Clarkson 1
Colgate 3, Merrimack 1

Re: Scores Weekend of 10/7

I think St. Lawrence - Clarkson went final with a 2-1 win for SLU.

3-3 tie with Colage and Merrimack in the 3rd.

Correct, 2-1 final.

Also Merrimack and Colgate are tied 3-3 with 4 minutes remaining in regulation.
Edit: Colgate scores a power play goal with 17 seconds remaining for a 4-3 win.

Re: Scores Weekend of 10/7

Looks like some goaltending issues at Union!!

Weak goaltending is certainly a change for Union. But the other surprise from the box score (I didn't see the game) is the shot advantage for Union. Have they ever outshot a D1 opponent by a margin like that? If anyone saw the game I would like to hear some comments. I have expected that Shugart might add a bit of offence for this team but there must have been a lot of other positives to produce that kind of shot advantage. Bottom line, though, an 8-1 loss to Penn State is rough.

Re: Scores Weekend of 10/7

Interesting. Freshman Katelynn Russ (D) led Union with 7 shots on net, the only goal for the Dutchwomen, and ended up +1 in 8-1 loss! Don't know anything about her but those are impressive stats.

Re: Scores Weekend of 10/7

Penn State used their freshman goalie (Daniela Paniccia) in their 8-1 win over Union. Not a bad start in D-1 for Paniccia, with 40 saves. Penn State scored 8 goals on 20 shots, 6 of the 8 goals being hat tricks by Laura Bowman and Amy Petersen.

Re: Scores Weekend of 10/7

Amy Menke's second period shorthanded goal was all North Dakota needed in shutting out St. Cloud State 1-0.

Edit: Three more scores, all shutouts:
Wisconsin 3, Ohio State 0
Northeastern 5, Lindenwood 0
Minnesota-Duluth 4, Minnesota State 0

Looks like a few teams need to sort out their goal tending issues: RIT, Union and Colgate. Terrific debut by Penn State goalie Daniela Paniccia.

STAT of note-ARD had zero saves in the 2nd period.

Iafallo from Sadek and Bouley on the only shot of the period.
OSU 1- UW 0 after 2.
SOG UW 23, OSU 5

Wisconsin ties it at 1-1 on a goal by Sam Cogan with just 1:54 remaining. Now headed to OT. Ohio State still with just 6 shots on goal, Badgers with 37!

On the power play! Hope the penalty against Lauren Boyle was legit.

New Hampshire and No. 3 Quinnipiac in a scoreless tie after two periods of play.

No score in the overtime so officially it'll go down as a 1-1 tie. Whichever team wins the shootout will get the extra point in the WCHA standings.

SLU looking for the non conference weekend sweep against Clarkson 2-2 end 2nd

Abby Roque was the only player to score in the shootout so the Badgers win the extra league point.

Re: Scores Weekend of 10/7

Union up 3-2 on Penn State after two. 14 penalties so far (7 apiece). I think the refs got issued new whistles and they're trying to break them in.

Poor call by the referee that likely cost the Buckeyes the win. Those are the breaks you get when playing at home and you are ranked #1. Nice to see the Buckeyes compete. Well done. Just saying.

"Nice to see the Buckeyes compete."

Being out-shot 38 to 7 isn't competing. It's testing your defensive zone coverage and hanging on for dear life! :)

Re: Scores Weekend of 10/7

Union beats Penn State 4-2. Beyond that, I don't know how you beat a team 8-1 and then lose 4-2 the next day.
