SCORES! of 2/25/12 - For most, the NCAA tournament has begun!!

Re: SCORES! of 2/25/12 - For most, the NCAA tournament has begun!!

Getting the NCAA to approve anything is most unlikely!:rolleyes:

...

Of course the problem with the D2 would also go away if they could either move their entire programs to DIII or get legislation allowing "play downs" to D2 if there is no D2 national championship and the teams followed D3 financial aid policies. If we could get the rest of the NE-10 to count as DIII, the tournament could be 12 teams, too.

Getting the NCAA to approve something like my play down plan is unlikely at best.

This is IMO, the BEST possible solution, but it requires competence that the money mongers clearly lack. A sufficient appeal to the egotist's WIFM (What's In it For Me) is the only hope for the DII teams.

Re: SCORES! of 2/25/12 - For most, the NCAA tournament has begun!!

I actually looked it up. 5OT.

EDIT: Interesting. In the D-3 record book, it lists the following as the longest game:

150:22 - Quinnipiac v Union (NY) - 5OT - March 12, 2010.

This is the longest Division I game. For both men and women.

EDIT 2: Obviously, that's a mistake. The longest D3 game ever 2/27/10. Gustavus Adolphus beat Augsburg 6–5 with 1:22 left in the 4th OT.

Thanks. How soon we forget. I've been asking around was there a game that went longer than last night's.

I know the longest Division III NCAA playoff game was the national championship game from two years ago that went 99:29.

Sorry there aren't enough fans outside of NY for you.

It isn't the number, it's the incessant drumbeat...I don't really care about Hare, but you should care about Kyle Thomas...:p

Hard to believe Lake Placid is only a few weeks away. Even though my Bears won't be there. I know a great time is to be had in Placid for everyone. Can't wait......

But legislation is currently in place to allow the D-II schools to play in the D-I championship. I doubt the NCAA is going to have 2 separate pieces of legislation that will allow D-II schools to play in the D-I championship OR the D-III championship.

Granted the D-III playing D-II schools would be cannon fodder in the D-I tournament, but so is the MEAC in the hoops tournament (IIRC they get the play-in game so as not to "sully" the main tournament).

Re: SCORES! of 2/25/12 - For most, the NCAA tournament has begun!!

CSS is done. The only way the west gets four is if SNC looses Saturday.

Note: you will see me on an upcoming episode of Doomsday Preppers if the Green Knights lose cuz that will mean the freaking apocalypse is near.

Sorry, I re-read my post and I wasn't very clear. I meant that CSS was already ahead of UST in the ranking, and if there was a fourth team in the west, CSS had the edge over UST already. So UST's chances were nil.
