It's too early for the Big 10 to give up. If Minnesota has a decent second half to the season, there is still a chance of landing two teams in the dance through the automatic qualifier.Rumor has it the WCHA and the new league are in early talks of merging the two conferences. Both conferences are not happy with the way things have turned out and things may change in one to three years.
The NCHC teams don't want to see MTU dominate the WCHA every year. The only way to get MTU to join is to invite everybody.

NCHC made a mistake by not inviting MTU to join the league. They have put many upgrades in the rink (ice plant, seats, clock, and box seating) and payed big dollars for a high end coach. I see that team is getting many wins these days.
All I am saying is the NCHC missed the boat.
Both sides have to agree and after all the drama, its hard to say why the other NCHC teams would want to scrap the whole thing two years in.
Their expenses have gone up a lot and their revenue has declined a little.

According to the 2013 tax statement, for three employees they did:

Expenses: $609,995
Liabilities: $56,486
Ruling Year: 2012

Fiscal Year End: August 31
This would have been just prior to the start of their inaugural season.

Yes. We'll have to wait until next year to see how the NCHC.tv revenue/expenses helped/hurt the league. But we'll get a feel for the first year's travel costs and any revenue/expense from the CBSSN exclusivity. With the hire of their Director of Communications, the NCHC now has four full-time employees (Josh Fenton, Joe Novak, Michael Weisman and Verna Toller) and several contracted employees (Don Adam, other supervisors of officials, some video guys for post-game highlights and the Top 5 Goals/Inside NCHC Videos).
Undoubtedly, their costs went up, however their revenue also went up with the inaugural Frozen Faceoff. The following year's statement (this current fiscal year) will also include revenue from NCHC.tv and an increase in advertising on their videos and site.

I wasn't referring to the league itself. I meant for the schools in the league.
