RPI visits Harvard, March 11th

fr. joe

Retired Goalie
It's the next round of the playoffs! We've drawn a very good Harvard team. From this point on, they're all going to be very good teams. It's time to play our best. Let's Go, Red!

Re: RPI visits Harvard, March 11th

This will be our fourth game against Harvard this year. We know them well, and they know what to expect from us.
It will take our best effort along with a great game from Kazzy to come out with a win tonight.

Lets go red!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: RPI visits Harvard, March 11th

Wouldn't it be nice if it did not take a great game by any one individual? Would love to see us just skate into that rink, have a nice subdued quiet game, and leave with a win. Could care less if it is close or not, one goal or not,m OT or not. Just a nice peaceful evening and we can then rest up for tomorrow and perhaps the chance to clinch the series. This thought will leave me in about an hour when the drugs start to wear off but it has made for a nice peaceful break in the day.

Re: RPI visits Harvard, March 11th

I haven't been in Harvard's rink in several decades, at one time the HVAC system there was less than ideal.

I wonder whether / how the unseasonably warm weather in Boston area today might affect the ice tonight.

I remember a story about one Stanley Cup Finals game in the 1970s perhaps when the Canadiens were playing the Blackhawks and it was really, really warm. The ice was actually turning to fog and Tony Esposito lost track of a puck shot from center ice (supposedly he couldn't see it because the fog was so thick) and that fluke goal probably cost the 'Hawks the Cup that year.

EDIT: was curious and did a quick search. Apparently Tony Esposito was near-sighted as well which also was a contributing factor.

Anyone know why RPI-TV is there?

Re: RPI visits Harvard, March 11th

I'm thinking that our second line has to come up big in this series if we are going to have a chance.

Re: RPI visits Harvard, March 11th

IIRC RPI was the 6th seed in 1995, which was the last time they won the ECAC championship at Lake Placid. An omen? A coincidence? Or some after effect of the medication I took today?

Re: RPI visits Harvard, March 11th

If history can be any guide, these two teams in ECAC action had very few penalties called. At the neutral site, there were many more called but in 3 games special teams did not seem to be the most important aspect of the game. Anyone know the names of the officials tonight?

Alex Dell and Mike Noeth linesman are Harry Ammian and Pierre Belanger. ;) If any of them get hurt, we have Tim Kotyra waiting in the wings.

CHN shows CJ Hanafin, Robert St. Lawrence | Linesmen: Todd Whittemore, Stephen Drain?
