RPI @ Q, Friday, Jan 9

Re: RPI @ Q, Friday, Jan 9

you have to wonder what is up here. That was a weak effort in the third.

Why did Appert put Kasdorf back in net?

Re: RPI @ Q, Friday, Jan 9

No doubt about it-QU is a potent team and has a very organized plan for defense. Peca just kills us even if he does not score. We were not terrible but we were not all that good enough. What is even more troubling than our lack of scoring is that our defense is just not supporting each other to get the puck out of our own zone quickly and cleanly. Cross ice passes are done against us with ease yet we cannot do the same. There is a lot of work to do although being more healthy has helped some.

Re: RPI @ Q, Friday, Jan 9

Question: has there ever been a time when the combined records of the men's and women's teams have been this bad, this far into the season, in RPI history?

If you're willing to go back to the time when RPI did not have a women's team, the answer is yes.

Tonight's games (January 9, 2015), resulted in a 4-2 loss for the men's team and a 3-0 loss for the women. The RPI men are now 6-16-1 and the women are 4-14-3, for a combined record of 10-30-4, which works out to a combined winning percentage of .273.

RPI's hockey team did not play on January 9, 1966, but as of that date, their last two games had resulted in losses to Western Ontario and Northeastern by a combined score of 25-1. Their won-lost record was 2-9 for a winning percentage of .182.

And it got worse. They went 1-10 the rest of the way.

Re: RPI @ Q, Friday, Jan 9

Apologies for the broadcast delay. Setting up the equipment myself for the first time was bound to have some technical difficulties. Thanks for listening when we got on the air in the 2nd

But we did have a 10 goal scorer that year and in only 22 games. I am not sure we will have a 10 goal scorer this entire year. It was my last year at RPI and I remember most games as I am sure Ralph does. The worst for me was traveling to Boston to see BU take what seemed like 1000 shots against us (Dick Greenlaw saved 78 officially but i suspect there were more), Clarkson beating us 16-1 and Northeastern shutting us out 14-0. The freshman team however(as frosh were not eligible in those days, was just plain phenomenal with Watson and Scammell.
It is always darkest before the dawn and i sense this RPI team just has too much talent and pride to not start showing it. We can and we will be a tougher team to play against. But I am getting really disturbed when we lose most faceoffs, get beaten by our special teams play, and most of all, seem like we forgot how to be a very physical team that hit everyone all over the ice.

It's all good. If you were the one on air, that was actually pretty good. Having tried PBP myself and knowing how difficult it is, you definitely have a good handle on it. Hopefully setup goes a little more smoothly today. :)

I'm sure that I can speak for everyone on this board that we appreciate what you do. Play by play is hard enough without having to set up, plan interviews, give score updates, etc. Though I have to admit that this season, the lack of a broadcast in many of the games would not have been a bad thing.
