Re: RPI @ Brown, Friday, 1/29/16

We'll do our best.

Lets go red!!!!!!!!!!
I may not be able to post her tonight but will be watching as I signed up for the Ivy broadcasts for a month. We really need to come out and own this one from the start. A game we should win, but more than that, really have to show we can win the ones we must win. I hope we are healthier than for a few of the recent games as nothing comes easy in the ECAC. Let's Go Red!!!!

Re: RPI @ Brown, Friday, 1/29/16

I had been assuming that I would be able to watch both the men's and women's games today because I was following the schedule on USCHO which shows the women's game at 3 pm, but all of the information on the RPI site shows the game at 7 pm, and I expect that is the correct time. However, I am signed up for Ivy League broadcasts for a month so I might try the split screen .

You can watch one game in Portland and one in Canmore. :)

Re: RPI @ Brown, Friday, 1/29/16

Brown's basketball team will be playing host to Princeton this evening, beginning at 6 PM. I found this out from looking at tonight's programming schedule for MASN, a cable sports network based in the Baltimore-Washington area, which will be televising that game. There are enough cable sports networks nowadays that you can find almost anything on one or the other of them.

I know that Brown has a reputation for poor fan support at home hockey games. At least at the start of tonight's game, the home crowd may be even more anemic than usual if a significant portion of Brown's sports fans are over at the gym watching the basketball team.

Maybe this is worrying about nothing, but if a significant number of Brown fans decide to stop by Meehan Auditorium after the basketball game and find their team actually leading, they might generate enough enthusiasm to give Brown's team more of a home-ice advantage than they're accustomed to.

It's never a bad idea to take a nice, big lead early in a hockey game, but it might be even a better idea for RPI to do so tonight.

Incidentally, after the Princeton - Brown basketball game, MASN is scheduled to televise tonight's Colgate - St. Lawrence hockey game from Canton starting at 8 PM, though Ralph and I may be the only people on this thread who will have the chance to look in on it.

Let's Go, Red! A weekend in New England. Let's be bad guests and take the points.

Re: RPI @ Brown, Friday, 1/29/16

obviously a fairly big team compared to us. I am told that they are about as top heavy as any team in the ECAC and if you want to beat them you have to stop that first line (with Lappin). I would guess that SA has that as a top priority even if he would never say it. The numbers for us point strongly that we need to score first or at least lead after the first period. As usual i would think it wise not to take many penalties.
