Go Red! Go White!
The new season is just around the corner. It's about time.

The initial forecast is promising but let's leave forecasting to The Weather Channel. ;) Expectations don't mean very much. Let's play some games instead. (Let's play our game.)

Re: RPI 2013/14: Sunny, with a slight chance of drivel

In honor of Riley Bourbonnais and Toni Sanders, today is 21 September 2013. There are 14 days (2 weeks) until RPI's next game.

This is based upon 5 October 2013 for the start of next season.

Hey, so I know we all really appreciate the awesome broadcasts we get from RPI TV. Well, right now in the football game's chat they're discussing how they'd like to be able to stream on YouTube so the stream can be watched on more devices. Problem is they need 100 subscribers on the channel and there are only 83 as I'm writing this. If anyone here who follows RPI hockey wants to boost that number, the RPITV broadcasts could get even better! (I'm not on RPITV, for the record, I just think they do a great job.)

Posted in the off-season thread then noticed this one...oops!

Re: RPI 2013/14: Sunny, with a slight chance of drivel

I was just looking through the bios of the freshmen on the women's team and came across the one for Katie Rooney. It states that her uncle, Patrick Rooney, played hockey at RPI. I am drawing a complete blank on that name. Does anyone recall him?

Conceivably the name Rooney for her uncle is a mistake, and he was a mother's brother. We have had several hockey players whose given name was Patrick. My first thought was Patrick Brownlee since he is from Minnesota.

Perhaps they were assuming a paternal uncle?

That's what I meant, but I wrote "father's brother" where I meant "mother's brother". :o He could also have been a father's sister's husband or mother's sister's husband.

You see, it is the inbreeding that is holding you guys back. ;)

Love the thread title BTW, very apt.

Re: RPI 2013/14: Sunny, with a slight chance of drivel

If anyone is suffering from an advanced stage of hockey withdrawal, RPI-TV is showing today's women's game at 1 PM EDT. It's both on the RPI-TV website and on youtube at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5QT5irkTsoE where it is already being tested. It sounds like Perry Laskaris.

Edit: It doesn't look like a sell-out. ;)

Watching it now before the Bills v. Jets game at 4:25. Lots of people dressed as red and blue seats today.

Unfortunately, that's just how it goes for most women's games. Especially exhibitions. There are probably a few fans on the home side.
