I agree -- congrats to RMU!
As for UND, I agree that they should also be instated into the CHA. They'd have more value as the 7th team in a league than as a league's 9th team. Plus, people around the country should get to experience the joys of visiting Grand Forks in January. Packing tip -- yes, bring that extra pair of wool socks, you'll find some use for them once the wind starts blowing.

ARM, you may even remember one of my posts from the long ago past. There was one juncture when Ohio State actually considered making such a move. Around 15 years ago, IIRC. One of the temptations was that Findlay was a league member then; the Oilers could have been an in-state rival had they survived. There were other selling points; it wasn't a crazy idea. But it would have been a mistake then; and it would be a mistake now.
Now about that post. When the decision to stay in the WCHA was made, I was relieved and pleased. I put up a multi-point list celebrating the decision.
If memory serves, that was the very first time I was mugged by an ECAC Poster for extolling the virtues of the WCHA. There have been many happy returns. (repeat tired, weak, smiling emoticon)
If there's really a need to revisit this subject of OSU's affiliation, the off-season will be here soon enough. I'll reprise my defense of the WCHA when the time comes. But we have some pretty important games coming up over the next 3 weekends. That's where the focus needs to be right now.
All that said, I am very happy that RMU has restored its hockey programs. Great news.
Thrilled for RMU that they got their program back. I hate seeing hockey programs get dropped, and it seems like it is usually the women's programs that get dropped (UND in 2017). RMU dropped both their men's and women's programs so that was between 50-60 student athletes who had the rug pulled out from underneath them. It's always sad when that happens, so I am glad they are getting their programs back. Hopefully they do not have to go through this again. Regarding the tired, stale, "OSU leaves the WCHA for some other conference blah blah blah" drivel, that was funny, like, maybe the first 70 or 80 times I heard it, read it somewhere, or saw it posted here in the fan forum. I guess some don't keep up or realize we have been invited to 3 NCAA Tournaments in the last four seasons (soon to be 4 in five seasons in a few weeks) and been to two Frozen Fours in that same time span. We're just fine where we are at, and like pgb, I was against moving to the CHA 15 or so years ago when it was being considered by the powers that be at OSU. Thankfully, the right decision was made. Nothing against the CHA, but in order to be the best, you have to beat the best. Staying the WCHA allowed us to have the opportunity to do just that, playing Minnesota, Minnesota-Duluth, and Wisconsin four times each every season. North Dakota had some good teams, too, when they still had their program.

Conference loyalty should be defended as well. Some may say that's old school. But it will always be a priority for me. We have been conference mates with Minnesota & Wisconsin for a century in the Big Ten. The Women's WCHA now has a history of over 20 years, which of course is the entire history of D-1 Women's Hockey at Ohio State.
Maybe Cornell would like to join the CHA. Decent geographic fit. And they wouldn't really miss being in the same conference as the other Ivies, would they?
Or, maybe Clarkson would be a nice pick-up for the CHA. (winking emoticon here) ECAC; CHA. What's the difference? No answer needed. If Clarkson really did open up a spot in the ECAC, it would take a school like RIT about 5 minutes to apply for the vacancy.
I could go on & on. And have in the past. But again, this isn't the time.
In order for UND to reinstate their program they would have to fight off all those men's UND fans who appeared out of the woodwork to justify the school's eliminating the program, who had never been heard from before regarding the women's team, and have never been heard from since.
(By the way, props to Brad Elliott Schlossman from Grand Forks, who seemed to me to be the only newspaper writer from a city who regularly reported women's hockey.)

You're right about him, and he even wrote about women's hockey after the demise of the UND women's program. The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel has had a presence over the years, enough so that you usually recognize the reporter/columnist. Same in Duluth. There are others who would gladly cover the sport more if their editors would pay them to do so. Rachel Blount and Joe Christiansen do a fine job when the STrib lets them.

And for those who may not know where the "17" number came from as far as how many posters they thought were on the women's forum...You can thank the shlub that came from the group of men's UND fans that "briefly" were on this forum.

No more so than UND to the CHA.
I like the GLWHA name, even if Penn State and Lindenwood make it a bit inaccurate. Always found the CHA name a bit silly and difficult for casual fans as the only non-geographically named conference, though there's some name overlap with the ECAC and Hockey East obviously. Surprised it's been 20 years already.
That said, I find it hard to get excited about this. I mean I'm glad the Board of Trustees saw some reason, but why should anyone trust Robert Morris University? What mechanisms are in place to prevent what happened before from happening again the next time men's basketball wins an NCAA tournament game?
