Can someone explain why Kaidan Mbereko is one of the three Richter Award finalists? His save percentage is 21st, his GAA is 18th, his winning % is 18th. His team neither won their conference, nor made the NCAAs. He would not seem to be among the top 10 goalies, to say nothing about the top three.

What am I missing?

Feels like it’s 2 fold. One being a makeup vote for not being a finalist last year when he arguably should have. The other is he’s a well known name from his time at the WJC and NTDP. Commissioners vote on this, not the media or coaches. I doubt they’re watching a ton of other conference play outside of out of league games between their own team. Bischel or Shane should have been there
 
Mbereko is a legit keeper. It isn't his fault that CC can't score enough to win games.
