What are the best spring, summer, fall recruiting event tournaments to gain exposure for a strong high school age girls AAA hockey team?

I'm familiar with:

NAHA
Stoney Creek

Is Beantown or Hockey Night Boston still relevant?

Could someone rank them in order of maximum exposure...relevance?

Beantown VERY relevant, HNIB not so much. There is a Harvard tournament by invitation only and the Assabet Valley tournament also by invitation only. Personal ranking:

1. Stoney Creek - coaches always ask if girls will be playing there. Every college team goes - D1 and D3. HIGH level of competition.
2. Beantown - new, but every college team has someone there (D1 and D3). Pretty high level of competition.
2. NAHA - pretty strong - every Eastern college team has someone there (D1 and D3). Some Western teams but limited. Pretty high level of competition.
4. Assabet Valley - pretty good Eastern college coach attendance (D1 and D3). Strong level of competition.
5. Rochester/Bauer - good college coach attendance (D1 and D3), but more regional and hit or miss depending on the college you are interested in. Uneven level of competition.
6. HNIB - Really mostly Division 3 coaches now, but some D1 coaches will show up for specific kids that are there - competiton level very uneven/low
7. Harvard - Decent tournament, but limited coach attendance unless you want to play for Harvard - competition level very good

Polar Bears Christmas Tourney

HNIB is mostly Prep School coaches, with the occasional lower level DIII coach.....basically a waste of time and money

Good list. I would add the Rush event in Toronto. Similar to BeanTown.

As far as summer individual sign up events:
Rush Showcase (run by Rush Hockey - Kelly Katorji)
Rink Sport (run by Washington Pride coach)

If you can get an invite for your team, the Canadian American events (not to be confused wth Can-Am) are almost as good as Stoney (Kitchener, Toronto, Detroit)

Having just gone thru this in the last couple years I would agree to a large extent to what others say. For summer or showcase events for my D it was:

Beantown – Best exposure and all games were at the same facility. Coaches could see dozens of girls in a short time, could be a pro or con. Now run by the best guy in the showcase business. Can register as a team or Kelly helps with individuals.

NAHA Showcase – Mostly East Coast schools but very intimate setting. Players were “showcased” at a facility with one (the GUT) or two sheets and staggered start times. If a coach was interested he or she saw your player a lot. Register only as a individual, placed on a team by NAHA.

Stoney Creek – The best team tournament for “in season” teams. Lots of schools and lots of high end teams including most of the top PWHL squads. Big hitters like Assabet also show up. NAHA labor day tournament is another, similar event with slightly less exposure.

Rush Showcase – Another of Kelly’s well run showcases, this one is a bit harder to get into because of the size limits. Individual registration and Rush places you on a team. A little Canada-centric and many CIS schools in attendance but very good, well run event.

Others have come and gone and some still exist as a cash grab like HNIB, others like SSM and Polar Bear are hit or miss. A coach will go to some of these other events if they are targeting you kid but I wouldn’t go unless you know schools that you are interested in are going to be there.

That being said all the coaches we dealt with said that there number one recruiting venue for American kids was the USA hockey national camps, I would assume this is similar for Canadians going to team Ontario and National team tryouts etc.

There are many, many camps run by college coaches during the summer, and these should not be overlooked. Note that the quality of these varies greatly.

Someone mentioned the RinkSport camp, and that's one that has quite a few coaches working (and recruiting).

If your daughter has a particular school in mind, have her check with the coach there and see where she or he may be working a camp. Some work more than one. Some work at other schools' camps -- example, in years past, the Hamilton camp had coaches from other schools working. I've always thought that the ability to show off work ethic and skills over a period of several days is better than exposure through a few shifts in a game against "who knows what" competition ...

How about NDC? Same?

Anyone have links to the Bauer Rochester Tournament - I had a hard time finding information about that?

Chicago Mission has hosted a small tourney in mid-December last 2 years (Mission, Shattuck, Little Caesars). May be looking for 4th US club with a very strong u19 AND u16 team. Had 8 D1 and 4 D3 schools this year - about the same last year.

these are a must for fall = sc, usa canada cup kitchner & detroit, d.c. , naha
( all of these will have tons of college scouts )

** off the radar is polar bears christmas tournament ( mostly prep school scouts & bad timing)

PROSPECTS Tournament in Toronto was originally founded by Bob Turow and was run for years by him along with Kelly Katorji (Rush Hockey)
Think they parted ways however IF the Prospects Tourney still has a Girls division, it had always been huge with reps from most D1 schools
Girls division had always been individual application/invitation only

www.prospectstourney.com does not have any girls dates listed for 2013 as of yet...don't know if they will

Hockey Night in Boston is not worth it. They charge a lot for three or four games and there are very few coaches there.
The Chowder Cup has lost out to the Beantown Classic. They schedule them at the same time and the Chowder Cup was the loser last summer.
The Labor Day NAHA tournament had nearly every girls D1, D2, and D3 coach there. The competition is great and it is a nice time to be in Burlington VT.

Prospects has gone the way of Chowder cup. They folded the girls division a couple summers ago and ceeded the weekend to Kelly Katorji's Rush Hockey event. To my knowledge that is still the case. Prospects is focusing on the boys side.
