Some of you may know that I am a Fire Chief in CT. We had an incident this past Sunday where one of our Firefighters came home from work and found that his 13 year old daughter was missing. After a few hours of investigation by local police she was determined to be an endangered runaway. For the past three days south central CT firefighters , police, FBI and whoever you could name have been searching for this little girl with negative results.
The incident and story made GMA this AM and also was getting serious due to the time (3 days) had passed. The father was scheduled to make an 11AM appearance at a press conference to plea for his daughters safe return. Myself and two other Chiefs were asked to attend to support our firefighter at this very difficult event. As we were about to face at least 20-30 tv cameras, a local cop walks up and States "we found her and she is OK". Talk about watching four grown men cry. I was probably one of the most difficult and uplifting experiences that I have ever gone through in my 51 years on earth. If you get a chance, talk to your kids, tell them you love them, and always appreciate them.
