Quinnipiac Bobcats 2011 Offseason

Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats 2011 Offseason

For anyone interested, the hockey banquet will be held Saturday April 16, 2011 starting at 5:00 pm in the University Club at the TD Bank Sports Center. If you'd like to attend, send me an email through my profile and I can give you all the details. It's really a great evening and a chance to see the team in a totally different setting than we're used to. Not to mention the food isn't that bad either. ;)

If we can get 8-10 people we can have our own QU USCHO table!

Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats 2011 Offseason

Haven't found anything to verify this but someone posted elsewhere on USCHO that Zach Hansen signed with Wheeling of the ECHL. Congrats Zach!

Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats 2011 Offseason

Our rink is getting a new name: the High Point Solutions Arena at the TD Bank Sports Center. It's a $1 million sponsorship deal announced this week. The deal runs for the next 5 years.

The company is from Sparta,NJ. The same place incoming 2012 goalie John Nauta hails from. Coincidence? I think not. Either way I'll take it.

The rich get richer and the poor get poorer. My gosh I don't know what to say............our rink was built in 1951 and named after an alum, Judge Charles W. Appleton, class of 1897. Our barn is named after the same person for 60 years and T D Bank after a few years gets pushed aside for a million clams from some rich kids dad (it sounds like). I guess you will take it Wonger. A million bucks.......however I can no longer meet you guys at the Bank!!!! You'll have to come up with a new nickname. I suppose the High Point Solutions Arena is better than the Low Point Quandry Arena.

I'm jealous.

I'm not sure I can jump on this conspiracy bandwagon with you fellas! My guess is it's just a business deal, and that makes me wonder what exactly that money gets used for? If they're taking suggestions, an HD video scoreboard and barstools would be at the top of my list. ;)

Technically, since you usually get met at the door, it'll still be the Bank. ;)

Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats 2011 Offseason

Canadian Flag would be nice. As for the goal horn, not being able to hear it means you have a good crowd. I can hear it over the radio when we play.

As long as our goal horn doesn't become as loud as the one at the HFH! That one blows your eardums off! LOL

Not being able to hear it means it's not a real horn but rather a sound clip played over the PA. In addition to bar stools, wonger and I have been patiently waiting for a real goal horn. ;)

Hey, it's softer than it was at Freakout 2002, because one of the three horns blew out! I think the echo has a bit to do with that one, though.

We had a PA-piped horn for one game (Union at HFH), and I know I couldn't hear it at all in the crowd. Granted for the 3rd and 4th goal, the field house was going nuts. However, you go to NHL arenas where they use piped in horns (like the Sabres, I'll use them since they're favorable colors to you guys), you can hear that just fine in the arena. Why not see what their secret is...
