Quarterfinal: Augsburg at St. Norbert

GB Puck Fan

It's A Great Day For Hockey
Some random things...

SNC defeated Augsburg 7-3 on Jan. 21, 1989. It was the Green Knights' first win as a varsity program in Minnesota. (Not first win overall, just for games played in Minnesota).

SNC is 5-10-1 vs. Augsburg all time.

Ten of the 16 meetings came in SNC's first five years as a D3 program, with SNC going 1-9. SNC has gone 4-1-1 since.

The last meeting was a 3-2 SNC OT win in the 2012-13 season, in Minneapolis.

Augsburg hasn't played in De Pere in 2011-12.

The Auggies and Knights have never met in the playoffs.

SNC should be able to take care of business and earn their place in Lake Placid. I say should but I have to remind that a number of years ago, St. Thomas came in at the CCC and upset what I consider one of or maybe the best SNC team that was ever assembled. I would think that Tim will let his team know that upsets can and do happen. My bet is SNC wins 5-1. GKP!!!

GAME DAY!

I went online to get tickets the other day, and just about everything was sold except the section right next to the zamboni entrance, so should be big crowd

SNC preview:

About 600 seats still left. All of A with students on break plus half of B, and 2/3 of the east end. Some of those tickets unavailable online are held until walkup sales start.

I didn't look at A. Makes sense.

Re: Quarterfinal: Augsburg at St. Norbert

Hi Guys. First post here obviously but I have been reading this forum since mid winter when the Auggies started to show they could win the MIAC.

I hope those empty seats will be filled with Maroon Auggies tonight but I have no idea how many fans are making the drive over. The hockey team had excellent support this year at the Augsburg Arena but we will see how many show up tonight.

If you are here - welcome to De Pere

Re: Quarterfinal: Augsburg at St. Norbert

I'm being homer-ish here. I really want the Green Knights to win so I can see my friends from SNC in Placid next weekend!

Re: Quarterfinal: Augsburg at St. Norbert

7:52 left in the first. 0-0. Auggies just killed off 4 min pp. SOG are 12-1 SNC.

Re: Quarterfinal: Augsburg at St. Norbert

End of 1
Augsburg 0
SNC 0

SOG are 16-3 and that, for once, is representative of the play. SNC controlled play but couldn't score. AC had maybe two good scoring opportunities.

Re: Quarterfinal: Augsburg at St. Norbert

I am watching online and thanks for the welcome! SNC is looking good, just have to see how Kaufer holds up!

SNC ties at 4:54 and then scored again at 5:17 on a scrum in grit of the net. 2-1 SNC.

Re: Quarterfinal: Augsburg at St. Norbert

SNC pp goal at 8:31. Goalie was screened - can't imagine he saw it. Augsburg has asked for time

Re: Quarterfinal: Augsburg at St. Norbert

End of 2
Augsburg 1
SNC 4

SOG are 33-9 SNC.

Augsburg has :32 of pp to start the third.

Re: Quarterfinal: Augsburg at St. Norbert

SNC pp goal at 4:30. Two Auggies then got dimes for lipping off, I guess

SNC goal at 6:42 makes it 6-1.
