I'm confused. Union still has to see the ice sculptures in Hanover tomorrow.

Now that P, Q, and U are done with their action for this weekend...

Despite their low positions in the ECAC standings, RPI vs. Princeton has the potential to be a very exciting game. I can testify that their meeting at Baker Rink earlier this season was as exciting as anyone could ask, if not particularly gratifying from the RPI standpoint.

Princeton has been a streaky team. They had a streak where they went 0-5-1, followed by a streak where they went 7-1, followed by a streak where they went 0-4, and they are currently on a 4-0-2 streak, including a sweep of the North Country teams in Princeton this weekend. The Engineers have to hope that they will be the team to put an end to the current streak.

Quinnipiac hasn't been as hot lately, only 3-3 in their last six games, including home losses to Arizona State and Clarkson. But they still stand fifth in the ECAC and look like a stronger team than RPI by just about any criteria you want to use.

Though they have recently lost to Harvard, St. Lawrence, and Cornell, Union's victory in Hanover tonight (RPI fans are probably gritting their teeth over the fact that the team that held them off the scoreboard until the final 20 seconds on Friday night gave up eight goals tonight) pushes the Dutchmen ahead of all three of those teams and into first place in the ECAC. Union will be gunning for a home sweep this weekend to maintain that position.

Was reading the Dartmouth thread and they posit the thought that this year's Big Green hallmark is inconsistency. They felt DC had the better of play into the first until their defenseman was advancing the puck into the offensive zone, somehow collided with a referee and gave up a breakaway... and Union was off to the races for two periods. (3-0 in blink of an eye.) DC gave up 8 and managed to snap off 45 shots themselves. Go figure.

We need some points this weekend... and with Princeton on a streak (North Country sweep) and Quinnipiac being Quinnipiac, you'd think it wasn't looking all that good for us. This has been an odd year featuring unusual results. I think points are on the ice... there for the taking. LGR!

Just to clarify! The score was 0-0 with DC getting the better of the play until our D ran into a linesman in OUR blueline. Our D was just opening up just left of the dots to what it may have looked like, to go rink-wide diagonally to his right when he ran into the linesman. Then the floodgates opened. Too be very clear, Union is/was the better team and probably would have won anyways but without that play the game would have been much more interesting.
