Princeton at Dartmouth - 01/30/10

Re: Princeton at Dartmouth - 01/30/10

Scott Fleming, SH, makes it a one goal game, with 5:56 to play in the game.

Princeton 4 - DC 3

Re: Princeton at Dartmouth - 01/30/10

Good chance for Dartmouth but it's waived off. This was problematic for DC, as apparently the fans were given tennis balls to throw on the ice when the Big Green scored their first goal. The fans not knowing the goal was waived off, started throwing their tennis balls on the ice. Apparently no delay of game penalty though.

Fans were definitely NOT given the tennis balls... They snuck them in entirely on their own. Trust me, the Dartmouth administration and ECAC do not like the tennis ball on the ice (hence the bench minor). Like Lynah Faithful with fish at Harvard games, and that one UNH dude with his very large fish at every men's game at Whittemore (not sure if he comes to women's games), Dartmouth students bring tennis balls completely on their own...

Tough loss for Dartmouth...

Fair enough, I've never heard of that tradition at Dartmouth. But the way the announcers were talkiing about it, it sounded like it was some planned event.

Re: Princeton at Dartmouth - 01/30/10

Long story short, back in the day Princeton apparently had a tradition of throwing tennis balls on the ice to celebrate their first goal of the season. One year that happened to be against Dartmouth.

Since then, Dartmouth's thrown tennis balls at Princeton following the first goal every time they come to Thompson.
