I figured I would get off my butt and start a new thread for the Bears.
It should be interesting season for the Bears, a new set of coaches, etc....
Gone are Zatorski, Carelli, Vasanein, Beck, and a few would be returning sophomores are gone.......
Tryouts start sometime this week and then they open up with an exh. contest against the Kangaroos of Canton.
Should be an interesting season.......
Let's Go Bears!

Re: Potsdam 2009-10 season thread...

Also gone are, Mark Sullivan, Adam Martinez, and Scott Voisin.
With a new coach who knows what could transpire this season?

Re: Potsdam 2009-10 season thread...

Opening night is this Tuesday against SUNY Canton, although its an exh. game it should be a good chance to what the Bears have this season.

Re: Potsdam 2009-10 season thread...

What do you think Saints17 I predict Potsdam by 7 goals final score 8-1. Canton can't even seem to win games at the ACHA level. I am predicting a big blow out by Potsdam in Potsdam.

Opening night is this Tuesday against SUNY Canton, although its an exh. game it should be a good chance to what the Bears have this season.

Re: Potsdam 2009-10 season thread...

Its a "trap" game....if the Bears win 8-1 as you predict, then folks will be saying..."geez they should have won big, it was only SUNY Canton".
If the Bears and SUNY Canton play close, then people will be saying,"Geez, they could only beat SUNY Canton by a few goals.".
Personally the outcome of the game is not as important when compared to seeing how the boys do under a new coach, i.e. systems, style....etc.
It will be nice to be back at the rink again.

Don't see Proteau on the roster for this year either included with the other would be sophs listed...was looking forward to see him progress this year after a fairly solid Freshman campaign. Be interesting to hear how the exhib. goes with all the new parts as mentioned below....Go Bears!

Anyone have the score of the Canton/Potsdam game?

Roos Tripped Up By Potsdam 3-1 in First Ever Meeting

(Potsdam, N.Y.)- The SUNY Canton and SUNY Potsdam men's ice hockey teams met for the first time Tuesday night and the Bears skated to a 3-1 win. SUNY Canton is now 2-4 overall.

The Roos, who were out shot 44-23, took a 1-0 lead early in the second period.

Senior defenseman Kevin O'Connell (Cadyville, N.Y.) scored his first goal of the season when he tallied a power play goal at the 3:25 mark of the second period. Garrett Rosenbaum (Charleston, S.C.) and Andrew Royce (Somers, Conn.) assisted on the goal.

The Bears answered with a power play goal of their own three minutes later off the stick of Connor Treacy. The Bears pumped in one more goal before the end of the second and one more in the third for the final margin. Colin MacLennan and Spencer Noyes also scored for the Bears and Trevor O'Neil had 23 saves on 24 shots.

Jimmy Merrow (Plainsboro, N.J.) had 44 saves on 47 shots for the Roos.

Re: Potsdam 2009-10 season thread...

After last evening's game against Oswego, tonight's game was something to witness.
I must give Cortland alot of credit as they played hard and at times carried the play. However, the Bears tied it up late and was able to get a bounce to win the game in OT. A fun game to watch.....

Re: Potsdam 2009-10 season thread...

I was at that Potsdam Cortland Game too. It really was a great game. What a bounce for potsdam at the end to win it. Off cortland goaltenders stick into his defensemens chest then into the back of the net. Hard fought game on both sides. I almost felt bad for cortland.
