Hey everyone,
On December 29 I will be taking part in the "Plunge 4 Pete" a fund-raising polar plunge to support the Pete Frates #4 Fund. The Pete Frates #4 is a fund set up to help support my neighbor and long time friend Peter Frates, who was diagnosed with ALS (aka Lou Gerhig's Disease) in April, on his campaign to spread awareness of and find a cure for this debilitating disease.
Pete was the captain of the BC baseball team, and a three sport athlete in high school (Baseball, Hockey, Football) and continued playing baseball even after graduating from BC. He played for a few years in Germany and then continued playing for Local leagues in the Boston area. And it was a baseball that ended up changing his life forever. He was hit by a pitch in the wrist during one of his games and it was taking longer then it should for a healthy 27 year old man to heal up, so he did some research and saw his doctor and found out he had ALS, a disease first brought to most peoples attention by baseball's Lou Gerhig. After the diagnosis he realized he would probably never play baseball again, but that did not matter to him anymore. The way he saw, he was now on a new team who's goal it is to spread awareness and find a cure to this horrible disease, and he would work for this new team just as hard as he had worked for every other team he had played for. He realized that he had been given an opportunity to do something amazing with his life and make a huge difference in the world, and he was not going to let that pass by. He is truly an inspirational and amazing young man.
Most of the money raised by the Pete Frates #4 Fund goes towards helping him and his family pay for medical expenses, a lot of which are not covered by insurance because they are experimental, and the rest goes the his campaign to spread awareness. So please help a great cause and sponsor me as I take the plunge. The link to my page is: http://www.petefrates.com/p4p/cmcauliffe.html

Thank You,
