CNE RELEASE

BEVERLY, Mass.
– Suffolk men's hockey's Matt Pimental was named Conference of New England (CNE) Player of the Week after helping the Rams sweep a home-and-home series with Western New England last weekend, the league office announced Monday. Pimental provided five points to the six-point weekend for the Rams.

The junior forward opened the series with the Golden Bears with a career-best three-point effort on one goal, his first of the season, and two assists, also a personal-high. Two days later, he found the back of the net twice, also a career-high for the East Providence, Rhode Island product. One of his strikes in West Springfield, Massachusetts, was the eventual game-winner in the 5-1 decision over WNE.

Pimental, who has produced points in back-to-back games, collected the first weekly accolade of his collegiate career. He is the first Ram to be named the conference's best player in a seven-day stretch since Devin Lowe Oct. 31, 2023. Overall, this season, the blue-and-gold has garnered four weekly awards from the CNE. On top of Pimental's honor, CJ Hapward was named CNE Goaltender of the Week twice, Dec. 9 and Jan. 7, and Nolan Leonard earned CNE Rookie of the Week Jan. 21.

Pimental and the Rams turn their sights to a split weekend that sends Wentworth and Western New England to Louis E. Porrazzo Memorial Skating Rink. Suffolk will first welcome the Leopards Friday, Feb. 14 at 6 p.m., a Saturday, Feb. 15 showdown with the Golden Bears at 4:50 p.m.
