Agreed. Bill always said the reason Graham Hill was a great driver late in age was how well he hit his apexes. He was insistent we hit them within an inch or two and he would go stand by corners and point at them to emphasize how far we were missing them.

It's not just focus, it's precision, the ability to hit the same mark every single lap. I figure that where I might miss by ten or twenty feet, they miss by one or two.

I diasagree a little bit. From my limited experience driving race cars it is the focus. Yes, great drivers are precise, but they are precise every lap. That takes focus to do that. Ignoring everything else but what they are doing at that moment.

I didn't say that focus isn't important, just that it's not the only thing that matters. I can have all the focus in the world, but if I vary by ten to twenty feet on my brake points and ~5 mph on my corner entry speeds (which I argue is due to lack of precision, not lack of focus), I'm going to get beaten comprehensively by someone with the talent to hit the mark within one to two feet and be within ~1-2 mph on corner entry speed.

And I'm saying this with between 20 and 30 hours of real life wheel-to-wheel driving (ChumpCar / LeMons) and a boatload more of virtual wheel-to-wheel driving (GT5), FWIW.

Nice to see Kubica back in a real race car. Even if it is only a test. I really hope he continues to progress.

Kinda open wheel, but not really....Danica is dating a fellow driver, some dude named Stenhouse. With little hot tempered Danica, the fireworks are going to be amazing on this one.

It's a small miracle Andretti Autosport didn't implode with hot tempered Danica and whiney "they are trying to kill me/I forgot to tell you about the wing change I wanted that you didn't give me because I'm so $&#%# bored in the car " Marco on the same team. Those Marco quotes from Indy are just priceless.

I hope Briscoe ends up an Penske Jr's team, kinda keep him in the family.

Not to disagree with any of that. You know there is just so much that goes into the speed you have just prior to braking for the corner. How you came out of the corner previously, how the car is working this lap,( a lot of times the tires change grip slightly from lap to lap) did you get impeded in traffic, did you get a tow, or are you trying to get by some guy as you approach this particular corner, were you able to get on the gas real early, just how hard, blah de blah it all goes into where the braking point is on this lap.
But you know if you lose even 2 or 3 ft to the guy in front of you in three out of five corners you will not be on the same lap in 10 minutes. Guys like Bill Scott could hold their braking so late and were so smooth, it was really amazing how much car control they had. You could not make any mistakes at all or you fell back 8 or 10 ft and you were not getting those 10 feet back. Pretty soon he was on a different corner than you were.
