Ohio St @ Alaska

Re: Ohio St @ Alaska

4 on 4 hockey with offsetting penalties. Only 1:30 left in the game, and Beck gets a hat trick to make it 6-1. Hats on the ice.

Re: Ohio St @ Alaska

OSU looks really really off their game tonight. They had a strong first period, but it's been all UA_ since.

I guess they are throwing a guy out of the game for throwing his hat on the ice? He and his entire family? Only in Fairbanks. LOL

Re: Ohio St @ Alaska

Almost. ;)

What's up with all the empty seats? I know why the Sully is empty, but UA_ has no competition and they are doing really well. What have their attendance numbers been like this season?

Down a little bit, but this was a team that was coming off a sub-par '11-'12 season and supposed to be horrible according to the "experts", and also lived up to that billing in November and December. Combine that with the fact that none of our traditional big draws (Big 10 schools or UAA) came to town in the 1st half and it makes sense the average was down a couple hundred year over year. I don't think it's any coincidence our biggest home crowds were the Northern Michigan series, which was our first series back home after the two week sweep.

But don't worry, we'll be out in force like always come March 1 and 2. ;)

Admit it, that was less OSU being off their game and more UAF taking them to the woodshed.

As for the ejection, the sooner we can dump the Carlson Center/SMG and move back to campus the better, in my opinion. Which is unfortunate because it won't happen for another 10 or 20 years. Too many other things need to be done on campus first (power plant, Patty Center remodel, new dorms, etc). It'd be nice to do a wholesale upgrade of the Patty Center (some of the gym seating is so bad it's been condemned...it's no coincidence capacity is listed as 2,000 but we "sold out" the mens BB game against UAA at about 1,200...) and include facilities for on-campus hockey games, but that's a long way off (at least the part about on-campus hockey).

Granted, it's been a while since any UAA player had a hat trick, but SMG also manages the Sully and there have never been any ejections. That is just uncalled for.
