North Dakota's New Code of Fan Conduct

Re: North Dakota's New Code of Fan Conduct

Luckily this code makes no mention of having to wear pants.

Re: North Dakota's New Code of Fan Conduct

Now its time for the other nine WCHA schools to follow UND's lead.

This should be a top priority for the WCHA leadership.

Re: North Dakota's New Code of Fan Conduct

Denver sends out a similar code of conduct to season ticket holders each year, and makes PA announcements about some of these items, but I think that's as far as they have gone with it...

Re: North Dakota's New Code of Fan Conduct

Do you know if other schools have anything similar in place?
I haven't heard of anything like this in the WCHA.

Most of this plan was adopted by the NFL either this season or last season. The pregame videos really do work, as does flashing the cell phone/text message # on the scoreboard to report obnoxious, harassing or drunk fans.

People should be able to wear their $150 hockey jerseys without fear of being attacked, harassed or having beer poured on them by idiots.

Re: North Dakota's New Code of Fan Conduct

Doesn't everybody already have one of these? The only reason it might be notable is if they decide to be militant in their enforcement of it.

Re: North Dakota's New Code of Fan Conduct

Good policy, but it will be interesting to see how item 5 is enforced.

Good point.

Enforcement is a tricky slope. You want fans to be safe and protected, but schools can go too far with this, too.

Denver is still struggling to create a noisy arena after years of overzealous noise and corporate atmosphere enforcement strategies under the (then Chancellor Dan) Ritchie Administration turned Magness into a morgue.

Only recently has DU relaxed things a little....

Well the authorities can start by having any fan under the age of 30 to take a breathlizer.:D
