NMU @ Bemidji: ** Insert Beaver Joke Here **

RaceBoarder

Waiting for the Snow to fly...
NMU had a tie & loss against Bowling Green...
Bemidji tied twice in Anchorage...

Hoping that the Cats can recover from a very disappointing Saturday night... Seems like Bemidji is a stouter foe than their record indicates...

Thoughts?

I'd like to say Bemidji has indeed played better than their record, played all but one series against ranked teams and has been right in most games. However, if they don't earn the majority of points from the next three series, their record will speak for itself.

Coming off a series at Anchorage with two points should leave a team feeling pretty good, but the way that it happened has to leave a somewhat bitter taste in their mouth. Being up 3-1 on Friday night, only to tie 3-3, Serratore said it best, it was like a "kick in the teeth". Then to be down 3-1 on Saturday night and come back to tie 4-4, Anchorage felt like they got kicked, especially with Cameron scoring all four goals for UAA. Two ties equals a road split, but there are no wins to show for it.....

Re: NMU @ Bemidji: ** Insert Beaver Joke Here **

BSU's Brendan Harms will be out 4 to 6 weeks with an injury from the UAA series.....

Hurts the Beavers, but I guess we will see if someone will step up,

Just a question.
Was he the guy that got crushed on the boards?
Clean check, just crushed the guy.
Broken ribs?
Sincerely hope he heals up and gets back on the ice sooner.
Clean hit or not, never want to see a guy hurt beyond a bruise.

Guess I am not 100% sure as I was unable to watch or listen to most of the games. By the time I was able to tune into Saturday's game, he was already out.

Re: NMU @ Bemidji: ** Insert Beaver Joke Here **

Harms was crushed on the boards although you didn't see it as the camera missed the hit. He came up hunched over and obviously hurt. I was thinking it may be a while before he is back on the ice this year the way he skated off to the locker room. He's a good player that has been taking lots of physical hits this year. I believe it was Sevalrud who put the hit on him and first impression was it was cheap as he was the antagonist for the Seawolves in that series.

Didn't see game, was this the same play Sevalrud got called for cross-checking?

From the Bemidji paper:
The Beavers did find out this week that they would be without leading scorer Harms for at least a month with an upper-body injury.
Harms, a sophomore forward from Steinbach, Man., was cross checked from behind near the end of the second period of Saturday night’s game in Anchorage and didn’t return.
“That’s a tough one right there for us,” Serratore said. “It was a tough play.”

Re: NMU @ Bemidji: ** Insert Beaver Joke Here **

Dahlstrom, Eibler, and Kaib all out for the weekend with injuries. Kesti put back on D. This according to Walt on the pregame.

Re: NMU @ Bemidji: ** Insert Beaver Joke Here **

Yikes. I wonder if the Dahlstrom injury happened in Alaska, could partially explain the 180 in his play.

Saw score was 3-2, then BSU with an ENG. Score indicative of how close the game was?

Dahlstrom was first injured in Alaska. The scored was an exact indicator of the game.

The game was really close throughout. Another nail biter for us. Very similar style for both teams. May be only a one goal difference either way tonight. Very impressed with the ability of NMU to avoid contact and bring the puck up the middle into their zone. Some speedy guys.

That is good to hear. With the key losses to injury and juggling of the lineup, it's good to hear the Cats are rebounding. Ending this half the season with a W would be nice.

Re: NMU @ Bemidji: ** Insert Beaver Joke Here **

Tie and a loss isn't a complete dumpster fire, but it's not the best result either... Would have liked to have the W on Saturday... Sounds like Doan did his best to keep the Cats in it... We just couldn't close the deal on the other end :(

Re: NMU @ Bemidji: ** Insert Beaver Joke Here **

At the half the 'Cats are 8-5-3 overall (.594) and 5-5-2 in WCHA play (.500).
Best overall numbers over the last five years (didn't have time to crank out the 1/2 season numbers prior to 10-11).

League play result is identical to last season (.500), with only 10-11 being better (7-5-2).

I should be happy with the overall results, but going 5-5-2 in league play bothers me a bit. Second half schedule isn't any easier, but the second half has always been a stronger half for the 'Cats. The MSU-M series is going to be very important in how they start this second half, and I'm glad it winds up being on home ice for the 'Cats.

I would love to be at that weekend, but may have to resort to WCHA.tv and my couch.
