I have to agree with Mr. Moose on this one. Very poorly written article in a national publication that doesn't even begin to analyze the possible long- and short-term implications. Primary impact is on football and hoops at this point but the bleedover into hockey has already started. Private schools, with a relatively few wealthy exceptions, IMO are just not going to be able to keep up with the Enormous State Universities when it comes to "buying" players. Exceptions for "big" privates like Southern Cal, Stanford, Notre Dame, Duke, etc. If NIL is going to drive blue chip hockey recruiting as it is already doing in other sports, I don't think schools like BC, BU, Northeastern, and the like--even Denver--can keep pace.
And that's before we even get to the character and integrity of the game we all love.
