Nightmare On Dayton Street - MTU at Wisconsin, 10/29/2010

FadeToBlack&Gold

Microlot Marxist
Michigan Tech and Wisconsin will meet for the 153rd and 154th times this weekend. The Badgers lead the all-time series 95-48-9, including a 58-25-5 mark in Madison.

Wisconsin looking for a spark after a couple disjointed outings in Denver, Tech playing in front of a truly hostile crowd for the first time this year and looking to prove that their surprising start isn't a fluke. Should be a good series, but anything could happen.

Re: Nightmare On Dayton Street - MTU at Wisconsin, 10/29/2010

I'm out for a bit this evening. Keep those updates coming!

Re: Nightmare On Dayton Street - MTU at Wisconsin, 10/29/2010

ExileonDaytonStreet is going to sue.

I'll be a touch late for the thread. I don't get out of work until 7:30 Sconny Time, then I have to drive home.

Alright Mix93, let's cutoff my least favorite Aerosmith tune and get to Dirk's broadcast.

Alright Mix93, let's cutoff my least favorite Aerosmith tune and get to Dirk's broadcast.

seconded, when i heard that, i found my mute button...

I'm listening on an actual radio, so I'll know the Huskies are killing a badger before you :p

Re: Nightmare On Dayton Street - MTU at Wisconsin, 10/29/2010

Alright, there we go. Four beers and two pasties later, I'm ready to listen to Tech get their arse kicked. A large bottle of scotch is at the ready for any point at which the Red Menace has a three goal lead.

Re: Nightmare On Dayton Street - MTU at Wisconsin, 10/29/2010

"Save by Robinson" is an oxymoron Dirk. :p

Some student manager kid will be doing color with him tonight.

Dirk confirms Genoe will get the start at the Kohl this evening.

Good to see Genoe starting, if he plays well tonight, I see him starting again tomorrow

Re: Nightmare On Dayton Street - MTU at Wisconsin, 10/29/2010

Interviewing Eaves:

-Wore themselves out on Friday, Denver won it late
-Played better and "competed more consistently" on Saturday, in spite of the tie

-Line chemistry is a process
-Good days and bad days
-Getting young guys up to speed is important

-Mark Zengerle is strong with the puck
-Good vision
-Impressive, well-rounded game on Saturday

-Powerplay off to a good start
-Some adjustment, but players are stepping up with the loss of Smith

-Gudmanson in net for the Badgers tonight

Re: Nightmare On Dayton Street - MTU at Wisconsin, 10/29/2010

IMO, Tech will need to weather what will no doubt be an early storm by Wisconsin. Get settled down, tune out the crowd, etc.

Re: Nightmare On Dayton Street - MTU at Wisconsin, 10/29/2010

Interview with Russell:

-Wisconsin still talented
-Good special teams
-Need to be poised in the first 5-10 minutes (see above ;))

-Good D-core this year
-Will join the rush

-Our forecheck has been an asset
-Need our neutral zone play to be simple and effective

-Offensive zone cycle has been good
-No blind passes
-UW covers the slot well

-Badgers have been in the box a bit so far
-Keep feet moving to draw calls
-Put pucks on net, less perimeter passing on the PP

-Genoe playing well, will evaluate him again after tonight

-Last year is forgotten, we're "turning the page and moving forward"

Re: Nightmare On Dayton Street - MTU at Wisconsin, 10/29/2010

Interview with Seigo:

-Not much different from last offseason
-Worked with same trainer in Regina (*snicker* :p)

-Europe trip was good for team

-Understands difference in speed w/ freshman experience

-Bigger sheet = skating more, a bit less physical
-Prefers the bigger sheet, due to style of play

-Difference this year lies in getting pucks to the net and burying rebounds

-@UW = big series
-Time to prove ourselves

-The Kohl is a little less intimidating now as a sophomore

-PK has really turned around due to simplicity
-Hard work = success

-Less pressure to score due to greater balance
