Need the Info on Indianapolis Area

I may have an offer for a position in Indianapolis (emphasize may) and want to see if anyone has info on living in that area. All I know is that it is pretty flat, the Colts are out there and so is the Indy 500. Anyone have info on anything else - where to live, selling points for the rest of my family?

There's a burgeoning yuppie scene downtown so it isn't quite as North West Virginia as the rest of the state.

The cost of living is obscenely cheap.

It's generally a pretty clean city, a few rough spots notwithstanding. There is a good deal of gentrification going on in the core. I believe most of the public schools are decent, and there are a number of 'burbs to fit most tastes and budgets. Cost of housing/living, as noted, is probably cheaper than many other metro areas, especially on the coasts. The St. Elmo Steakhouse is awesome.

If your family includes elementary school age kids, you'll definitely want to check out the Children's Museum. We've been to Children's Museums in several states, and the one in Indy is the pick of the litter.
