NCAA Quarterfinal, western style: Gustavus Adolphus at St. Norbert

Re: NCAA Quarterfinal, western style: Gustavus Adolphus at St. Norbert

Now that is what you call taking advantage of home ice and closing!

Bradshaw was special to watch tonight. As a freshman, he sees the ice better than most. The goals by Joanette and Perry were outstanding. Joanettes goal was 100% hustle and effort and Perry's was a blast past the biggest goalie that I have ever seen. SNC is really rolling despite the off night by the first line and PP. Off to LP where they should represent themselves very well. Congrats!

A very solid win for SNC. Great job shutting down the Gusties offense. Great individual efforts throughout, especially on Jeannette's goal.

Not sure how SNC will fare at LP but you have to get there to have a chance. Good luck!

Norwich will be looking for revenge...

Norwich will be looking for revenge...

I do not believe that the revenge factor works at this level or at this time of year. All 4 teams know what a loss means. Typically all 4 teams will represent well and a puck bounce here and there typically decides the games. The revenge factor typically is more fan based than team based. Once the game starts, nobody on the ice is thinking revenge.

Yea, tell that to the Cadets. It'll be in the back of every good players' mind. They won't say it, but it will be. Fans are the only ones to verbalize it.;)

While the "revenge" factor may be a possibility in the minds of some, I would tend to think Coach McShane has them focused properly. IMO I think Norwich has enough motivation already. Just an observation....

I know what you are saying, but I think the desire for revenge will probably manifest itself in the way the team prepares for the game. The senses and the focus are going to be just a little heightened. I remember back in the first National Championship year, the thing that was at the top of that team's mind was taking care of UWS who had gotten in the way of the quest for the title the previous couple of years. Maybe once the game starts, ideas of revenge will be counter productive, but I thing the boy's are going to be well focused on the goal at hand on Friday afternoon.

Can't disagree with any of your thoughts. I think that all of the teams will be ready and focused. You do not get to this level without it. I have been to many of the Frozen/Final 4's and most of the games are nail biters and a mistake here or there is very costly and secondly, a hot goalie is really a key ingredient.

The revenge things sounds nice but I don't believe Norwich would be any less prepared or motivated had they beaten SNC in that really tight game last season.

Is Carroll still the #1 even though Czarnota has better numbers?

Czarnotta has the better numbers partially because he has played some of the games against weaker opposition. The stats are a little misleading in that regard. Carroll's save percentage can be a little misleading - he's no Klinginsmith, but he gets the job done. He made some very nice saves against Wentworth, and the team plays very confidently in front of him. The two goalie reference of course goes back to the game two years ago at Placid. One of the best games that I have ever seen.

Well said Prof. You don't get this far on just revenge. But rest assured, both teams remember the last time they met. That is what makes this rematch an instant classic. Should be a doozy!
