MyWebFace?

Has anyone else had this happen from the uscho website, where if you click on a thread or message, and uscho changes to mywebface.com? I didn't know if it was something wrong with my laptop, but it also happened at work on Friday. What the heck is that, and why would it happen only from this website?

Re: MyWebFace?

Last year some bugs/viruses/malware infiltrated USCHO (or so were my findings due to the behavior of my comp). Check your cookies, run virus/malware tests, etc. Hopefully that fixes things.

It doesn't fix anything. I downloaded both MalwareBytes (yesterday) and a free trial of Kaspersky tonight. This last one I found after doing some research online, someone said that Kaspersky fixed it. Well, I just ran a scan, came here and it happened again. It seems like it's only happening on message boards, not on actual sites. I've seen some research that said it's not bad and other research that says it's full of spyware/malware/etc. I suppose it's worse if you actually download it. It's driving me nuts.

It's not happening to me, thank goodness. Last year was bad enough. It wasn't directing me to that site, but it was similar behavior. For the record, I have Kaspersky right now, on a new laptop, as opposed to last year, where I had Spybot, AVG, and AdAware on a 10 year old desktop.

Re: MyWebFace?

I bet it's tied in with the looping pk ditty from days of yore.

A loopy c*nt malware problem if you will.

Re: MyWebFace?

Someone else mentioned getting the same thing in tLodge.

A few things for your browser to keep you safe when stuff like this goes around:

Obviously, Firefox if you don't already have it.

NoScript - disables Javascript unless you specifically enable it. Can be a little irritating at first, but will stop a lot of the evil stuff out there.

AdBlock Plus - you might never see a banner ad again.

Avast - free antivirus, actually as good if not better than most pay antivirus.

Go here and follow the instructions to update your Hosts file. This will block your computer from being able to access a lot of the nasty stuff.
