I hate ties. But after listening to that first period, a tie was a pleasant surprise to say the least. I'll accept this one.

That's an understatement. UMD needs a win to keep Minnesota within reach. UMD has two games in hand, but they don't mean a lot if you're five points back. For Michigan Tech, it keeps some distance between them and St. Cloud and helps keep pace with North Dakota for the last home ice spot.
