Minnesota State 2024 Offseason

Figured I'd get something started to keep track of what should be a pretty active offseason (though thankfully not as active as las year).

So far by my count:

• Sam Morton signs a two way contract with the Calgary Flames (NHL)
• Tony Malinowski signs with the Reading Royals (ECHL)
• Conner Gregga and Tanner Edwards are in the transfer portal
• Brandon Koch, Lucas Sowder and Jordan Steinmetz were graduate students, so they're gone
• Jordan Power took part in the senior night celebration. He was listed as a junior on the roster, but last year was his fourth year of college hockey after three years at Clarkson

Now onto checking the portal multiple times per day. Have heard there is concern about Evan Murr. Also with Eli Pulver coming in as one of the BCHL's top goalies, something going to have to give at that position.

Power's first collegiate year as 2020-21, so I think he still has a Covid year.

Let's see where he ends up. I fear that the future of college hockey (with NIL and the portal) is going to be the B1G, NCHC, and Hockey East treating the CCHA, AHA, and ECAC like farm leagues. Whenever they need something, they'll just poach it.

You're right about that, but I think this might be a situation where Keenan was either directly or indirectly told his opportunity might be diminished next season. Strand leaned more on Tracy after Christmas and the goalie coming in, Eli Pulver, had great numbers in the BCHL the last two season's so he's not looking to come in and ride the pine.

Wisconsin probably needs a goalie, ironically.

Also, Jordan Power was in the MavWeek fundraising video posted this morning so maybe he's back for a fifth year.
 
If we're counting changing of an Instagram bio as official, looks like Fin Williams is coming to campus. Two points his freshman year at Notre Dame, left school last year to go back to the USHL, five points in 14 games for Chicago and Waterloo.
 
Mavs pick up Cade Alami from Arizona State. Skated for Boston College his freshman and sophomore years. Hasn't really been a point producer throughout his career. He's 6' 7" so between him and Luke Ashton (6' 5") we have the Gage Towers reincarnated on defense.

So this will be his third school? I guess I'm going to have to get used to it, but I'm not a fan of the portal era.
 
I hope it slows down this is not Football with all the NIL money. no loyalty to the school or program. Are most of these portal kids going to classes or holding a 3.5 GPA
