I guess someone should start a thread and since we’re hosting, here goes. Each team has only played four conference games. And since that makes conference stats almost meaningless, that’s what I’ll go with. :)

UM is 3-0-1-0 for a total of 10 points, with a sweep of BGSU and a shootout loss and tie with FSU. UAF is 2-1-1-1 for a total of 8 points, with a shootout win and loss to MSU, and also a sweep of BGSU.

Conference stats go something like this:

Of course, UM is something like a gazillion-8-1 lifetime against the Nooks, so I'm not using that stat. Prior expectations for Nook fans were to see a well played game and not lose by much. Not so anymore. Special teams will likely be the difference, but we can't tell much after four games. The Nooks went from pitiful stats two weeks ago to conference leaders in one weekend. So there's that.

UM is in our cluster, where points will be hard to come by on the road. We can’t be satisfied with anything less than six points at home. The Nooks will need to work their butts off for 60 minutes each night, and Greenham will have to on his game to make that happen. But it’s doable. Here’s to a gazillion-10-1 after this weekend. ;)

Realistically, Michigan is still looking for an identity. The numbers look good, but when you watch them, you can see that something is missing. Teamwork, leadership, desparation- not sure what it is, but many of the passes are very obvious, so break outs get sqashed quickly, and defensive zone play is a lot of standing around sometimes.

The team does say the right things, but Red is still working on putting it all together- to the point of mixing up guys who have played together for a long time (Hagelin and Rust).

The goalie situation is odd, too- Hunwick has shown some over play tendancies at time, and he does not exactly get the support in front of him. Hogan has looked good, but he's really, really struggling with rebounds right now. Park a player in front of him, and take shots from the blue line- it's as good as a pass.

They are very similar to past years when one game they would look bad, and the next night brilliant (or vise versa). Hard to figure what team you will see.

This is a pretty tall order considering the opponent, but we need at least 4 points, if not the whole 6, out of this weekend. Our next series is at Miami, which will likely be a bit of a challenge in terms of point garnering.

Last weekend was the first time this season that the Nooks looked like they had everything put together. Granted it was BG at home, but hopefully that sweep was a confidence and momentum builder. This weekend will have two well-coached teams that are almost always ready to play, so there should be some good hockey. Go Nooks.

Excellent showing for the Nooks. That was a convincing win against a quality team. The 3-0 shutout was well deserved. The Nooks out skated, out hustled, out goal-tended, and simply outplay the Wolverines in every phase of the game. UM started adjusting to the Nooks aggressive fore-check and back-check somewhere in the third, but too little, too late. Should be a tougher and tighter game tonight.

We need back-to-back wins against Michigan. Or else conventional wisdom is that they can beat us anytime they want to when they really try. Step it up boys and complete the sweep.

Early in the second, Derek Klassen picks up this Wolverine turnover at the blue line and feeds Carlo Finucci for a beautiful goal, making it 2-0 Nooks...

With about 12 min left in the second, Taranto again provides some distraction as Sova (from Kunyk, Petovello) buries this PP goal from the point to make it 3-0 Nooks.
