Back in the 80's/90's I watched a lot of Elmira, RIT and Mercyhurst games. Great hockey, great rivalries. I thought Scott Burfoot on Mercyhurst's team was outstanding. When RIT and Mercyhurst went DI, I stopped watching their games, and never really paid much attention to Mercyhurst. This past weekend series with Army did catch my attention. What's going on with Mercyhurst's program? Bottom falling out?
 
I pay attention a little to them, my eldest is a graduate. I'd say the main thing is just inertia - their coach has been there forever, and there seems to be no push to improve the program. The school as a whole started a move to D1 this year, and I suspect that has distracted their athletic department somewhat.
