MCLA (which is also restarting their men's program) is launching a women's team for 2023-24 as part of the athletic department's multiyear plan that also includes multiple facilities upgrades while cutting their tennis programs.

MCLA is located in North Adams, MA in Western MA which is about 50 miles due east of Albany, NY. The closest DIII teams would be WNEU and Worcester State. They have announced a coaching search so no one appears to be signed up there.

They are a member of the MASCAC in all sports they play except men's lacrosse where they play in the NAC. Other MASCACs playing women's hockey include Worcester State (CCC), Salem State (NEHC), and Plymouth State (NEHC). The NAC has one full-time member playing WIH: SUNY Canton (NEWHL).
