Now that the season has officially begun for everyone, which conference will prove to be the weakest top-to-bottom?

Re: Least competitive conference?

yay this topic...is there goingt to be a poll at least?
Well .... the next 6 weeks are pretty dead, there is a new conference and two that have been largely gutted, so yes, I'm bored. The thread title and associated poll are published independently, so catching the thread in between must mean that you're bored as well?

Edit: Plus this week's D1 Extra feature involves the shift in power from perenniel powers like Mich, Minn, BU to some upstart programs, and we're seeing some of that occuring in the D3 ranks as well.

Least competitive to me means that there is a clear case of haves and have nots, with a large gap between the two. I voted for the SUNYAC.

If there was another team that could keep pace with Adrian, then the MCHA could get votes, but one team laying waste to a conference does not make it a candidate for "least" competitive conference.

BTW, only one team left the ECAC-E for the MASCAC. The rest came from the NE.

Well, also keep in mind that there are two teams at the bottom of the MCHA that would struggle to be competitive in some high school games, too.

Which made a fairly good showing last night! Unless a team pulls a UMB performance from last year, the East could prove to be a one team conference.

Re: Least competitive conference?

Nice to see the NE not win this poll for once. My Colonels seemed to have pulled off what Adrian is attempting to do.

Re: Least competitive conference?

No way is the MCHA the least competitive conference. The 2nd place to fifth place teams are incredibly tight, any one of those teams could beat another on any given night. Plus, the conference has one team that is a legit contender to win it all this season.

It isn't 2003 anymore guys...

But the rest of the league is so far from the top....hence less competitive. Sure a bunch of HS teams can beat up on each, but this is college. You're right its not 2003, but the only thing that has changed is the fact Adrian now is the only legitimate team in the league, everything else is pretty much the same.

No way. Lawrence and Marian are way more competitive vs. the stronger western teams than they were 5 years ago. MSOE and Lake Forest can play with the MIAC teams. You wouldn't say that about the fifth place MCHA team 5 years ago.

Excluding Adrian from the MCHA and Curry from the NE, I'd say the MCHA is more competitive both within and outside of it's conference schedule...
