iTunes help

Vinegar Strokes
So I opened up my iTunes tonight, as I do most nights, and instead of seeing the normal song list, I see a screen from Apple wanting to show me how to add music to my library through searching my computer or going to the Apple store.

I look around, my entire library is gone. As in nothing is being displayed, not even things I bought in the Apple store. I looked in my iTunes music folder on my computer and noticed a bunch of temp files that were downloaded last night apparently, I deleted them and am currently running a virus scan to rule out those being the cause of my library disappearing.

Anyone have any input as to what to do now?

Re: iTunes help

If you don't find anything my suggestion would be to revert the computer to a status you know is before the problem occurred. Then run virus scan again.

Re: iTunes help

Also check to make sure you didn't inadvertantly (or automatically) install a new version of iTunes. It doesn't always automatically move over your library, especially if it gets installed at different location.

Re: iTunes help

So three and a half weeks after my problem began, still my iTunes library is disappearing constantly. All of the music files are still in the iTunes folder, but are not appearing in my library. I've run a virus scan on everything, uninstalled, then reinstalled iTunes, yet it keeps happening. I really don't know what to do anymore.

And to make matters worse, last time I plugged my iPod in to my computer, it deleted everything from it and reset it to the factory settings.

Any thoughts on anything that I could do?

No clue why it's happening to you, but for some reason the iTunes library isn't there. Hold the shift key down when opening iTunes until the option to select library appears. There should be a folder with Previous iTunes Library in your music folder, select one of them to see if it fixes your problem.
