This (long) article from the New York Times Magazine probably could have been posted in the soccer thread, but I didn't want to interrupt World Cup talk, and I think it would be an interesting read, even if you don't like soccer.

I'm fairly certain it was both posted and briefly discussed in the soccer thread before the start of the World Cup.
